First Steps
First steps after signing up
You can spread the steps across several sessions—pick what matches what you are doing this week.
1. Put information into your profile
Your profile is what hivi uses to suggest answers on web forms. It is also the core of the structured facts you will want later for paperwork—employers, addresses, IDs you reuse, and similar fields.
- Open Import Your Profile (you must be signed in).
- Upload a CV (PDF or DOCX) for the fastest start, or enter details manually.
- For LinkedIn, follow the LinkedIn card on that page (the Chrome extension is involved); see LinkedIn and your career.
Whenever you think “I might need this on a form someday,” add or upload it here. For the habit of treating hivi as your single trusted place (including scans and files), read Your information hub (source of truth).
2. Install the Chrome extension
Install hivi autofill from the Chrome Web Store, sign in inside the extension, then enable autofill per website when you are ready to fill a form. Details: Install from Chrome Web Store and Use autofill on websites.
3. Try it on a real form
Pick a low-stakes form (a profile on a site you trust) and practice: enable autofill for that site, focus a field, choose a suggestion. When you are comfortable, use the same flow on applications that matter.
4. Fill from a photo of a document
If you have an ID or similar document and the app offers fill from photo / scan document, you can use that workflow to pull text into fields. See How to fill a form from a photo.
5. If someone sends you a request
Some users receive a document or data request from a business that uses hivi (for example a realtor or lawyer). In that case you will open the request from your account and approve or share what is asked. See When you receive a request. Past activity may also appear in Sharing history overview.
6. More tools in the app (optional)
When you are ready to go beyond browser forms:
- Fill PDF — map PDF form fields to your saved profile: Fill PDF with your saved profile.
- Files vs My Documents — where uploads live versus in-app document instances: Files and My Documents.
- Templates — reusable starting points: Personal templates overview.
- Life Line — visual timelines of your life data: Life Line overview.
