When Autofill Does Not Work

Autofill troubleshooting

These checks cover the most common cases. Work through them in order.

1. Confirm autofill is on for this site

The extension runs after you enable autofill for the current origin in the popup. If the site redirects between www and non-www, enable it again on the URL you actually use.

See Use autofill on websites.

2. Sign in to the extension

Open the extension popup and sign in with the same account you use on hivi.ca. Two-factor authentication, if enabled on your account, must succeed here too.

3. When the site uses a custom field control

Many autofill flows target text-like inputs: plain text, email, URL, tel, search, and some textareas. If the site uses a custom widget, canvas, shadow DOM patterns, or splits one answer across hidden fields, suggestions may attach differently than on a plain input. In those cases, type manually or paste from your profile notes.

4. CAPTCHA or anti-bot steps

If the page asks you to prove you are human before the form unlocks, complete that step first. Some publishers keep field metadata private from extensions by design—that supports their security model.

5. Embedded iframes (for example ATS “Apply” embeds)

Some job sites embed the application in an iframe. hivi autofill is built with real-world embeds in mind; behavior still depends on the host page and browser. Try enabling autofill on the top-level site first, then focus fields inside the embed.

6. Grow matches in your profile

When no saved value matches the field label, the list stays empty until you add data in the app—or use AI-assisted suggestions where the product offers them. Treat AI output as a draft; see AI reliability notice.

Extra checks

Try another browser profile without conflicting extensions, confirm Chrome is up to date, and re-open the form after a full refresh. If one specific employer portal resists helpers, note the URL pattern for support: some publishers restrict third-party scripting by policy.
